If you have a recognized Quebec interpreting degree or one from outside Quebec considered equivalent by OTTIAQ, you may:

If you do not hold a recognized interpreting degree or one considered equivalent, you must apply for training equivalency. Consult the list of factors that the Certification Committee takes into account when assessing a candidate’s training equivalency application.

If you are already certified as an interpreter and are a current member of a Canadian association of certified translators, terminologists and interpreters governed by a law, you may become a member of OTTIAQ by applying for certification by way of a legal authorization to practise.

You will be required to complete the training on ethics, professional conduct and professional practice, if you have not already done so.

Once you have completed the training on ethics, professional conduct and professional practice, you will be asked to fill out the OTTIAQ membership roll registration form and pay your membership dues for the current year. Membership dues are reduced for individuals certified and governed by the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) and the Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia (STIBC).
